Buy a wool topper for the particular surface layer and ownership routine it offers. A Merino label, a cotton cover and a lofty product photograph answer different questions. None tells you by itself whether the topper is washable, how it will settle or whether you can return it after a week on your bed.
This US guide compares Sleep & Beyond myMerino, Sleep & Beyond myTopper and Holy Lamb Organics All-Natural Quilted Topper, using Queen prices and specifications checked on October 31, 2026. We have not tested these products for comfort, temperature, emissions, allergies or durability. Descriptions of feel and performance from sellers remain attributed claims.
Compare the actual filling and Queen purchase
The prices are direct-store snapshots in USD, before tax, shipping and promotions. They are not Amazon offers. A starting price for a small size is not the Queen price.
| Exact selected product | Listed construction and new loft | Queen, 60 × 80 in | Direct Queen price | Main purchase distinction |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sleep & Beyond myMerino, OQMP | Organic superfine Merino wool; organic cotton percale; 1.5 in | Published Queen specification | $389 | Specified Merino filling, with a spot-clean/dry-clean care route |
| Sleep & Beyond myTopper, WQMT | Washable Shropshire wool; natural cotton percale; 1.5 in | Published Queen specification | $329 | Model-specific machine-wash instructions |
| Holy Lamb All-Natural Quilted Topper / Deep Sleep, HLO-QMTDS | Premium Eco Wool; organic cotton shell; approximately 1.5–2 in | 9.3 lb wool fill, not total item weight | $735 | A different wool construction with a higher-fill Ultimate alternative |

myMerino: a specific material choice
Sleep & Beyond describes myMerino's filling as certified organic superfine Merino wool, with a 270-thread-count organic cotton percale shell. Its published filling figure is 44 oz per square yard, also expressed as approximately 1,500 GSM. This is a filling specification, not a foam density or a measured firmness score.
The Queen costs $60 more than the selected myTopper at the checked direct prices. That difference purchases a different stated material and certification proposition; it does not prove $60 more cushioning, cooler sleep or longer life. The two products share a listed 1.5-inch loft but have different wool and care instructions.
myMerino is the route to investigate if the specified Merino filling is the reason you are shopping. It is less suitable if easy whole-topper machine washing is a nonnegotiable requirement. Its current care section recommends spot cleaning and, for major stains, limited-moisture dry cleaning. It does not provide myTopper's machine-wash permission.
myTopper: choose it for the care difference
The selected myTopper uses Shropshire wool, not Merino, and its shell is described as natural cotton, rather than the organic cotton specification of myMerino. Sleep & Beyond lists 37 oz per square yard, approximately 1,250 GSM, of washable wool filling.
That makes myTopper a useful alternative when the owner values its actual washing route more than a Merino label. “Washable” still has conditions: the product page specifies cold water, a wool or delicate cycle without agitation, appropriate wool detergent and no spin, with its stated drying options. This is not permission for a hot normal cycle or an arbitrary commercial laundry process.
Before purchase, check whether your machine can accommodate the Queen topper and carry out that program. A washable product that cannot be cleaned and dried correctly in your home may still require outside help. The care routine and local cleaning cost belong in the buying decision.
Holy Lamb Deep Sleep: distinguish fill, loft and certification
Holy Lamb's selected All-Natural product pairs organic cotton with Premium Eco Wool. It is not the separate Certified Organic Quilted Topper. A brand selling both products is not evidence that the wool in both has the same certification.
Within the All-Natural listing, Deep Sleep is approximately 1.5–2 inches thick, while Ultimate is approximately 2.5–3 inches. In Queen, the manufacturer lists 9.3 lb and 14 lb of wool filling respectively. Those are filling weights, not finished handling weights.
The checked Queen Ultimate, HLO-QMTU, was $899, or $164 above Deep Sleep. It is the more filled option, not a measured pressure-relief winner. Both need non-machine-wash care. If you are comparing by the amount of wool, these are meaningful distinctions; if you are shopping for a foam-like contour, the depth figures alone do not establish that sensation.

Decide what change your current mattress needs
If the mattress is structurally sound and you want a wool-filled surface, these are relevant options. If it sags, its support is unsuitable or it no longer meets the bed's requirements, treat that underlying problem separately. A new topper should not be budgeted as a repair for a failed mattress.
Wool, latex and feather constructions also offer different ownership choices. Our latex-topper guide covers elastic foam alternatives, while the feather-topper comparison covers feather/down mixtures and their fill distinctions. A wool-and-latex hybrid is a fourth construction, not evidence that a wool-only quilted topper contains a hidden latex core.
Do not select solely by sleep position. We have no measured sinkage or pressure maps for these exact units. A side sleeper wanting a large change in contour should not interpret “1.5 inches” as proof of that change. Holy Lamb's product samples can help assess material texture, but a small sample cannot reproduce the full Queen sleeping experience.
Plan for settling and the whole bed stack
Holy Lamb describes 15–20% initial compression for its quilted toppers. That is its estimate for those products, not our longitudinal measurement or a percentage we apply to myMerino and myTopper. Its care instructions recommend alternating flipping and head-to-foot rotation weekly at first, then less often as needed.
The consequence is practical: new loft is not a permanent loaded height. Take changing surface feel into account before buying an unusually thick fitted sheet or deciding the product has failed simply because it no longer looks like its new photograph. Conversely, a general settling statement does not rule out an actual defect; document a specific concern and use the manufacturer's process.
Add the mattress, topper, protector and fitted sheet as a complete stack. A tight sheet or protector can constrain the upper layer, while a loose one can bunch. Distinguish the topper, pad and protector roles instead of expecting the wool topper to provide waterproof protection.
Research the exact myMerino Queen topper
Separate myMerino from washable myTopper, thin myPad products and wool-and-latex blends before comparing a seller's offer.

Care and returns can determine the better purchase
| Product or seller | Cleaning distinction | Direct-store return consequence |
|---|---|---|
| myMerino | Spot clean; maker recommends limited-moisture dry cleaning for major stains | Sleep & Beyond requires unused, unlaundered condition for eligible returns |
| myTopper | Specific machine-wash permission with cold, low-action care instructions | Washing or sleeping on it is not covered by the unused-item return promise |
| Holy Lamb All-Natural Deep Sleep / Ultimate | Not machine washable; spot care, airing and rotation instructions | Refund and used-item store-credit routes differ under the current general policy |
Sleep & Beyond's current policy allows eligible returns within 30 days of receipt, with original condition, tags and packaging. Even brief personal use counts as used. Return-label costs and original shipping charges, including shipping on orders initially advertised as free shipping, can reduce the refund. This is a meaningful limitation when comparing expensive sizes.
Holy Lamb's general policy uses 30 days from ship or fulfillment date, distinguishes unused-item refunds from used-item store credit, and subjects returns to inspection and exclusions. Its topper product page emphasizes unused/unwashed refunds. Do not describe that as a contradictory promise of cash back after sleeping on it: the remedy is different. The policy says the supplied return label must be used within five days and limits repeat returns.

Our buying decision and evidence limits
Choose myMerino for its stated organic Merino construction when its cleaning restrictions fit the household. Choose myTopper when its specified washable construction is more useful than a Merino label. Investigate Holy Lamb Deep Sleep or Ultimate when you want its particular wool-fill choices and can accept the price and return remedy.
We checked primary product pages, size/variant information and US seller policies on the date above. Owner questions about compression, smell and washing informed the questions addressed here, not claims about how frequently problems occur. We have not independently audited certification chains or measured a cooling effect. We do not adopt seller claims about treating allergies, chronic conditions or sterilizing bedding through sunshine. Airing and drying are ownership steps, not evidence of medical benefit.
