A trucker mattress has to fit the sleeper berth, get into the cab and leave the setup usable. A comfortable mattress in the wrong width or height can be a costly mistake, especially when the trial does not cover incorrect sizing.
This guide addresses semi-truck sleeper cabins, not inflatable mattresses for an open pickup bed. We compared the current US SleepDog seven-inch, BigDawg nine-inch and SleeperKing Premium twelve-inch models on October 31, 2026. We have not installed them, measured cabin vibration or tested their comfort, temperatures or road performance.
The comparison uses 39 × 80 inches as a common offered size across these three products. It is a consistent price basis, not a universal truck-bed specification. RV Short Queen shoppers have a different decision, covered in our RV mattress guide.
Measure your berth rather than ordering by the truck badge
Use the vehicle's mattress instructions and the actual supported platform. Record clear length, width, corner shape, protrusions and allowed height. A brand's size finder can point you toward a likely product, but a truck name without the exact cab, bunk and configuration is not an installation drawing.
The old mattress is useful as a reference, but a compressed or distorted edge may be misleading. Check the underlying berth as well. Photograph the platform and the measurements so a seller can answer a specific fit question instead of guessing from the word “Freightliner” or “Peterbilt.”
Measure the delivery path too. A wrapped roll, an expanded mattress and a long rectangular object do not move through a cab identically. Consider the door, seat backs, turning space and any access required to storage beneath the berth. Do not assume a product can be folded sharply or rolled back into its shipping package after expansion.

Prices below are selected-variant direct catalog prices in USD, before tax, promotions and order-specific charges. SleepDog's pages advertised a 30% promotion when checked, while product variant data retained the catalog prices. We do not substitute a first-size promotional headline for the selected B-size checkout total. These are not Amazon prices.
| Selected model and version | Listed size | Construction described by manufacturer | Direct catalog price | Main tradeoff |
|---|---|---|---|---|

SleepDog seven-inch: the lower-profile foam route
The current ordinary SleepDog has seven-inch dual-layer construction and a medium-firm manufacturer description. Its CoolRest memory-foam branding is not a temperature test. Nor does “accommodates all sleep positions” establish that every body size will find it comfortable.
This is the clearest starting option here when height is a binding constraint and foam is the preferred construction. It uses two fewer listed inches than BigDawg and five fewer than SleeperKing Premium. Those differences can matter to sitting space and access even before the question of subjective feel.
Its selected B is 39 × 80 inches. Other options include A at 36 × 80, C at 42 × 80 and E at 48 × 75, all with the model's seven-inch height. The letters are product size identifiers, not universally transferable truck codes. The presence of an RV Queen option on the same page does not make that size appropriate for a truck berth.
BigDawg nine-inch: two stated feels in one model
BigDawg is a distinct double-sided, nine-inch product. The manufacturer describes a softer and a firmer side, CoolRest memory foam and Sure Align support foam. Its mention of a two-inch quilted foam cover belongs to that total construction; it is not a reason to relabel the mattress as eleven inches thick.
For the selected B size, its catalog price was $170 above ordinary SleepDog. The practical reason to consider it is the reversible construction, rather than an invented improvement in a universal firmness score. We have not measured how far the two sides differ or whether either prevents pressure discomfort for a particular sleeper.
BigDawg also offers D at 32 × 80 inches, a size not listed in the checked ordinary SleepDog variants. This can make it relevant to a genuinely narrower berth, although it does not establish fit by itself. Keep the actual size, height and construction together when requesting a quote; do not carry one model's variant list over to another.
SleeperKing Premium: a deeper coil-and-foam alternative
SleeperKing describes the Premium as twelve inches thick, with individually encased coils, foam and two usable sides. Its descriptions of cooling and warming fabrics are features to investigate, not proof of measured temperature control. We also do not turn a general advertised coil count into a verified count for every offered width.
The checked variant options were 36 × 80, 39 × 80 and 42 × 80 inches, all at the same $900 catalog price. The retailer also discusses custom work through its contact channel; a custom corner or unusual width is not one of those three standard checkout variants.
The twelve-inch profile is its central fit tradeoff. On the same platform, replacing a listed seven-inch mattress with a listed twelve-inch one raises the unloaded surface five inches. That arithmetic says nothing about compressed sitting height or whether your vehicle allows the installation. It does explain why comparing only the length and width is incomplete.
Research the exact SleepDog B truck mattress
Separate the seven-inch SleepDog from nine-inch BigDawg and RV sizes. A matching search term is not proof that an exact offer is available.

This is an Amazon search, not a verified listing. Check the actual product, seller and order terms; the direct catalog price and trial do not establish Amazon terms. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.
Read the trial's sizing and return exclusions
The most consequential SleepDog term is not the 120-night headline. Its direct return policy explicitly says incorrectly ordered mattresses are not returnable and makes the buyer responsible for size, model and thickness. There is no comfort-trial workaround for ordering before measuring.
For an otherwise eligible comfort return, SleepDog requires a full 60-day trial, with the authorization request made between day 60 and day 120. It does not offer an exchange for a different mattress under that process. Stains, tears, a missing law tag, damage and a late request can make a return ineligible. Its page says mattress returns do not incur restocking or reshipping fees; those terms do not extend the trial to pillows, protectors or toppers.
SleeperKing's current FAQ and contact page describe a donation certificate as part of the 120-night refund process and exclude damaged or soiled mattresses. The product page's “send it back” wording is therefore too vague to use as a shipping instruction. Obtain the approved process and documentation requirements before arranging a donation, particularly if you move between terminals or locations.
| Purchase | Decision to settle before paying |
|---|---|
| Ordinary SleepDog or BigDawg direct | Correct size and thickness first; understand the 60-day minimum and day-120 deadline |
| SleeperKing direct | Exact dimensions and any custom work; order-specific guarantee and donation procedure |
| Amazon or another retailer | Actual seller's offer, eligibility and return route; do not assume the brand-direct trial applies |
| Fleet or employer purchase | Purchasing permission, delivery address and the actual fleet agreement; personal retail terms are not automatically the fleet contract |
Plan setup before removing the old mattress
Keep a usable sleeping plan while delivery, unpacking and expansion are completed. Inspect the labeled size before disturbing protective packaging, and do not treat a wrapped roll's small size as evidence that the expanded mattress will fit. Follow the supplied setup instructions for the exact model.
SleepDog's warranty page excludes mattresses not opened and decompressed within 30 days of receipt. It also lists unzipping or removing the cover among excluded damage circumstances. Keeping an unopened purchase indefinitely or washing an internal cover based on another mattress's instructions can therefore create separate problems from comfort preference.
A protector can help maintain return-eligible condition, but does not change a size-error exclusion. Select protection compatible with the actual mattress and care requirements. If a topper is being considered instead of a replacement, include its height and storage consequences; it does not repair a structurally failed mattress.

Our selection rule and research method
Shortlist SleepDog seven-inch when the lower profile and medium-firm foam proposition suit the berth. Compare BigDawg when its reversible soft/firm construction is worth the extra listed height and catalog cost. Consider SleeperKing Premium when a deeper coil-and-foam mattress fits the actual cabin and its purchase terms suit your situation.
The research uses current manufacturer/retailer product pages, selected variant data and primary policies. Truck-owner discussions helped identify sizing, replacement and trial questions; they do not establish current model specifications, defect rates or our own testing. Pickup-bed camping reviews are a different use case. We have not independently verified vehicle-compliance marketing claims, vibration isolation, cooling performance or long-term durability, and no generated visual is evidence of those outcomes.
