Puffy vs Purple: Lux Hybrid, Royal Upgrades & RestorePlus

By MattressProducts.com Editorial Team

Compare Puffy Lux Hybrid with Purple RestorePlus, and see why a Royal upgrade changes the pair: foam vs grid surfaces, 12/14 vs 13 inches and dated trial terms.

Quick Verdict

  • Start with Lux Hybrid when you want to investigate a memory-foam comfort surface over coils. Start with RestorePlus when Purple’s elastic grid is the reason you are shopping.
  • Lux is 12 inches and RestorePlus 13. A Puffy Royal upgrade changes the selected Puffy to a 14-inch ultra-plush-described hybrid, so read the actual offer before using the Lux comparison.
  • Puffy’s current direct policy is purchase-date dependent. Purple’s current direct trial is 100 nights with a 21-night adjustment requirement. Keep model identity and seller terms together.

Start with Lux Hybrid versus RestorePlus

Puffy Lux Hybrid is published as a 12-inch mattress with memory foam, wrapped coils and a medium-plush description. Purple RestorePlus combines a 3-inch GelFlex Grid, foam and coils in a 13-inch profile, currently described as medium-soft.

Both starting models retain spring support. The useful question is the material above it: memory-foam cushioning or an elastic grid. The two feel labels are manufacturer descriptions, not a common instrument reading. They do not establish that every person will find one softer, easier to turn on or better for pressure relief.

Puffy Cloud and Purple Original are separate products. Older reviews of those entry models cannot supply a measured result for these hybrids. Our Puffy review and Purple review provide lineup context, while this guide keeps the named hybrid pair visible.

A Royal upgrade changes the product, not just the discount

When checked, the Lux page displayed a free upgrade to Royal promotion. The offer text is a dated observation, not a promise that every size, seller or future order includes it. More importantly, Royal’s own page publishes a 14-inch ultra-plush-described hybrid with a different construction and support description.

Read the full delivered model on the order summary. If it says Royal, a 12-inch Lux height result no longer applies. On the same base, Lux sits nominally one inch lower than RestorePlus, whereas Royal sits one inch higher. That difference can affect bedding depth, headboard exposure and sitting height without proving a comfort or durability advantage.

Does your offer still deliver Lux, or has it changed to Royal?

The Lux page showed a Royal-upgrade promotion when researched. Select the mattress named on your actual offer; promotional text is not a permanent product specification.

Identify the delivered model before comparing

Read the full model on the offer or order summary, including any upgrade. No numeric profile comparison is produced yet.

Model unresolved: no chart or assumed Puffy measurement.

US sources checked October 31, 2026: Lux and the dated upgrade display · Royal · RestorePlus. No live offer is fetched. The promotion may end or vary; price, availability, delivery and return eligibility remain order-specific.

An upgrade may be attractive when you actually want the replacement model. It is less informative when you have not tried its comfort direction or when it changes the bed height you planned. Do not evaluate the offer by adding an advertised accessory “value” to assumed mattress savings. The question is what model and services the quoted payment buys.

Try the actual surface with bedding you will use

If the grid is the attraction, spend time on RestorePlus before deciding by price. Roll from your normal side position to your back, and notice whether you like the surface sensation. If you prefer the foam route, try the actual Lux or Royal named on the offer. Selecting Royal does not simply add two inches beneath an otherwise identical Lux feel.

Use comparable pillows and a suitable protector and sheet. Purple describes stretch bedding as a way to allow the grid to flex; a tight fitted sheet or thick pad can change what you perceive. That does not establish that a particular branded sheet set is mandatory. Check measured pocket depth and whether the bedding restrains the surface.

For partners, compare both positions together. Coil count and the presence of a grid cannot tell you how much the other person’s turning will disturb you. Record what you observe on the whole bed. Do not turn a brief showroom preference into a claim that one current model has a measured motion-isolation advantage.

Cooling claims describe different comparisons

Puffy advertises cooling foam, a breathable cover and coils; Purple emphasizes its grid and airflow. The fact that a maker quotes a degree or multiplier against its selected benchmark does not create a controlled comparison with the other bed here. We have no matched overnight measurements for this pair.

Separate initial cover coolness from how warm you feel later in the night. Record protector, bedding, room conditions and whether a selected upgrade changes them. If heat is the primary reason you are replacing the bed, that observation is more useful than inferring a universal winner from two unrelated advertising tests.

Puffy’s purchase date matters; Purple has a separate clock

Puffy’s return policy assigns 365 nights and a minimum 30-night use period to direct purchases on or after February 23, 2026. Earlier purchases retain 101 nights and a 14-night minimum. The policy limits returns to a lifetime maximum of two per household and applies to original direct purchasers. Royal being an upgrade does not establish a new or different trial entitlement for an older order.

Purple’s current RestorePlus terms state 100 nights from delivery and at least 21 nights before starting a return or exchange. For both brands, save the actual offer, delivery date and written process. A mattress trial, base return policy and accessory policy are not interchangeable. Marketplace purchases need their actual seller’s remedy.

Do not treat “365” as evidence that the mattress lasts longer or “lifetime” warranty language as a comfort-life estimate. An applicable trial supplies time to evaluate a product under conditions; a warranty addresses defined defects. Our sleep-trial diary helps keep your own observations and dates in one place.

Compare the delivered setup and the selected support

Use the same mattress size and list the exact delivered model, chosen services and any support you actually need. Standard shipping, in-room setup and removal are different services. An offer may change them separately from the mattress upgrade, so retain the written quote rather than assuming the headline includes everything.

Add mattress and any topper to your measured floor-to-support surface to plan finished height. Compatibility is a separate question: RestorePlus’s product page distinguishes suitable solid/slatted support from a traditional box spring. Apply the Puffy model’s own requirements to the other offer. The bed-frame compatibility tool can help organize those details.

Our decision and evidence limits

Investigate the foam and grid surfaces first, then compare the model actually supplied. Lux/RestorePlus is one pair; Royal/RestorePlus is another. A useful offer makes that difference clear and gives you terms you can retain.

We checked the linked primary pages and reviewed NapLab’s Restore-family explanation for the importance of model scope; its external testing is not our testing or a Lux comparison. An owner question about a Royal upgrade helped identify the offer-model ambiguity. Experiences and older configurations in that discussion do not prove present comfort, longevity or promotion availability. For a separate foam comparison, continue to Puffy vs Nectar.

Frequently asked questions

Which Puffy model should I compare with Purple RestorePlus?

This guide starts with the 12-inch Lux Hybrid and 13-inch RestorePlus. If the actual Puffy offer names Royal Hybrid after an upgrade, use Royal’s 14-inch profile and its own specifications instead.

Does a free Royal upgrade mean Lux and Royal are the same?

No. Puffy publishes Lux as a 12-inch medium-plush hybrid and Royal as a 14-inch ultra-plush hybrid. The observed promotion changes the selected product; it is not proof of identical construction or a permanent offer.

Are Puffy and Purple both foam mattresses?

The selected Lux and RestorePlus are hybrids with coils. Lux uses a memory-foam comfort route; RestorePlus adds a 3-inch GelFlex Grid with foam and coils. Puffy Cloud is a separate foam model.

Does Puffy have a 101-night or 365-night trial?

Its current direct policy assigns 365 nights and a 30-night minimum to purchases on or after February 23, 2026. Earlier purchases retain 101 nights and a 14-night minimum. Household and other conditions also apply.

Can cooling claims decide which mattress is better?

The makers advertise different cooling materials and benchmarks. Those claims are not a matched overnight test of the selected configurations. We do not infer a temperature or overall winner from the marketing figures.
