Part of our mattress comparison hub. US sources checked October 31, 2026. We have researched the current products and policies; we did not physically test this pair.
First, make sure “Original” means the current T&N
The useful current pair is Leesa Original versus Tuft & Needle Original II. Leesa’s Original page describes a 10-inch memory-foam mattress with a medium feel. T&N’s model guidance, updated August 27, 2026, identifies the 12-inch Original II as firm and explicitly firmer than the previous Original.
The current T&N storefront sometimes shortens the visible name to Original while its imagery and support documentation retain II. Look for the 12-inch specification and ask the seller which generation it is selling. An old review, reused customer rating or abbreviated listing name is not proof that the internal model stayed the same.
This distinction matters because an older Leesa/T&N comparison can present two 10-inch mattresses and different feel descriptions. That article may answer a question about its tested units, but those results cannot establish the newer Original II’s pressure relief, motion isolation or temperature behavior. Our T&N review and Leesa review provide broader context.
Leesa vs Tuft & Needle comparison chart
| Decision | Leesa Original | T&N Original II | Buyer consequence |
|---|---|---|---|
| Selected construction | All foam | All foam | Neither selected bed includes a coil core |
| Published profile | 10 inches | 12 inches | Two-inch difference on an unchanged support |
| Current brand feel description | Medium | Firm | Choose a direction to try, not a numerical winner |
| Disclosed comfort approach | Responsive GreenFlex foam above memory foam | T&N Adaptive foam and support foams | Different foam systems; labels alone do not quantify whole-bed response |
| Current direct trial headline | 365 nights | 100 nights | Longer time does not remove condition or household rules |
| Model to keep separate | Sapira Hybrid | Original Hybrid, Mint II | These alternatives change the comparison |
Medium versus firm is a starting direction
Leesa is the first of this pair to investigate when a medium foam direction is your goal. The company discloses a responsive top foam, a memory-foam layer and a support core. T&N Original II is the first to investigate when a firm foam direction is the goal; its help page directly distinguishes it from the softer previous Original.
Do not translate those descriptions into “Leesa is safe for every side sleeper” or “T&N supports every stomach sleeper.” Your weight distribution, pillow, sleeping position and tolerance for contouring affect the whole-bed result. In a side position, observe shoulder room and whether the waist feels supported; on your back, observe whether the pelvis settles comfortably. Turning and sitting at the edge need their own checks.
Foam-model generation check
Is the T&N comparison about the current bed?
Select the generation before using manufacturer feel descriptions. Old Original reviews cannot establish the performance of the newer 12-inch Original II.
Model unresolved for this comparison
Confirm 12-inch Original II with the seller. The T&N help page identifies it as firmer than the previous Original; this does not retroactively change a test of the old bed.
Checked October 31, 2026: Leesa Original · T&N’s generation guidance, updated August 27, 2026. Neither height nor feel labels establish durability or comparative cooling.
If you specifically want springs, neither selected foam model resolves that preference. Investigate Leesa Sapira Hybrid or T&N Original Hybrid as named alternatives. Do not transfer this table’s heights and feel descriptions to them. For another current foam pair, compare Leesa with Casper The One or Casper with T&N Original II.
What the foam disclosures answer, and what they do not
Leesa publishes a 2-inch GreenFlex layer, 2 inches of memory foam and a 6-inch support core. That disclosure helps explain its 10-inch construction. The current T&N page identifies Adaptive foam and support/base foams but does not provide a matching full numerical specification table sufficient for a durability comparison here.
We therefore do not turn a missing density into zero or declare the thicker Original II the stronger mattress. Foam density, firmness and layer thickness are different measurements. Even two known density values would need the correct foam type, layer and test context before they could inform a meaningful comparison. The mattress specifications guide explains that distinction.
Both brands advertise cooling or airflow properties. T&N’s comparison percentages refer to its stated material benchmark; Leesa’s GreenFlex claims use its own context. They are not a shared overnight test of these two current mattresses. Keep the selected cover visible in your quote and use comparable bedding if you observe heat during an applicable trial.
Two inches affect bedding and finished bed height
A 10-inch mattress and a 12-inch mattress create different sitting and headboard heights on the same base. Before replacing your current bed, measure from the floor to the top of the support surface. Include a foundation in that measurement if you plan to keep it, then add mattress and topper height once.
Finished-bed-height planner
Where would the top of each bed sit?
Use the same support and topper to compare published profiles. This is a dimensional calculation, not a safe-transfer assessment, comfort score or support-compatibility approval.
Enter both measurements. Support range: 0–40 in; topper range: 0–10 in. Blank or invalid entries clear the calculated result.
1 inch = 2.54 cm. Published nominal profiles; actual dimensions can vary. Floor-to-support already includes the chosen foundation, so count it once. Topper input is for height only and does not endorse adding one. Check sitting, headboard clearance and the actual fitted-sheet pocket separately. Sources checked October 31, 2026: Leesa Original · T&N Original II.
For fitted sheets, compare the actual pocket-depth specification with the mattress and everything underneath the sheet. “Deep pocket” without a measurement cannot establish fit. A topper may change height and surface sensation; it should not be assumed necessary simply because the mattress feels different in a brief showroom visit. Check the mattress trial and topper return process separately if you buy both.
Compare current trials and the actual return route
Leesa’s current promise states 365 nights, with returns after the initial 30-day adjustment and up to two mattress returns per household. The page lists a $100 return fee for Alaska, Hawaii and Canada. Keep that geographical exception separate from a blanket “free returns” label.
T&N’s current returns page describes 100 nights from arrival, one return or exchange per household per 12 months and a self-service process through LiquiDonate for direct orders. It describes donation/pickup handling for opened mattresses rather than requiring the expanded mattress to be packed into its original box. Follow the actual instructions and retain the pickup/donation record.
T&N also explicitly discusses Amazon: eligible orders are returned through Amazon, with exceptions including Amazon Canada and the foam pillow. That is more specific than assuming every retail order follows the direct portal. It still does not verify a particular search result or seller. Leesa retail orders likewise require the applicable retailer terms. Save the policy and delivery date rather than relying only on a headline trial length.
Research the named foam models
Use the same size and separate the mattress charge from cover upgrades, the support you need, delivery and removal. A bundle’s advertised accessory value is not a cash discount unless you would otherwise buy those accessories. The following affiliate links are Amazon searches, not verified live offers.
Research Leesa Original
Keep Original separate from Studio, Sapira and retailer-specific Leesa configurations.

Research T&N Original II
Confirm the current 12-inch Original II. An older Original or Original Hybrid is a different comparison.

Our decision and research limits
Choose the model generation before comparing comfort. Leesa Original is the medium, lower-profile foam direction in this pair; Original II is the firm, taller foam direction. The right choice still depends on your experience and complete offer, not an unsupported durability or cooling rank.
We reviewed Sleep Foundation’s Leesa/T&N comparison and found a useful decision structure but an older 10-inch T&N scope. We have not transferred its test scores to Original II. The current T&N help page and Leesa disclosures supply the model facts; this guide adds a generation check and dimensional planner, not our own physical test. Record changes during your trial with the sleep-trial diary.
